In Maschine go to CHANNEL options for Sound 2 > Input > Audio > Source - A1:S1-2 (Tools > ReWire Devices Config > Ableton Live > Audio Outputs - to configure number of ReWire channels available in Live bidule) Pressing PLAY button or adjusting tempo on Maschine hardware should now work synchronized with Live.Ĭonnect Ableton Live bidule's Mix L/ Mix R and Buses to Bidule Plugin_ Sample Input Channels 1-32. Right-click on the Ableton Live bidule > Sync to > Bidule Plugin_ Launch Ableton Live and it should begin 'Running as ReWire Slave'. Right-click > ReWire Devices > Ableton Live I removed the existing mixer in the above setup but it can be useful for sub/mixes, drum racks etc. It is imperative to load the VSTi as opposed to the VST as the VST will not offer us the necessary routing options. ![]() Load a PlogueBidule VSTi in first SOUND slot (_16 for 8 in/8 out, _32 for 16 in/16out). Open Maschine standalone > File > Send MIDI Clock I will post another how-to on using REAPER, ReWired and unReWired with ReaRoute for even more flexibility) (Simply add another Bidule in another GROUP SOUND in Maschine and ReWire in another DAW/whatever and you have even more INPUTS. The setup above gives you 20 audio inputs, 16-IN from Bidule plus the 4 standard from Maschine. Will also allow you bypass the 4 External Audio-In limit inherent in Maschine when in standalone. Maschine and Live can both be run full screen. This version ReWires Ableton Live as a slave to Maschine in order to avoid the tempo-drift issue you get when running both as standalone programs and using a Virtual MIDI cable to send MIDI clock info. I will post another how-to on using these programs without ReWire which is not as tempo-steady but allows for more audio routing/summing flexibility. This was the fundamental starting point for the setup I have now that includes Bitwig and Reason and is awesome for generative creation when I'm in that mood. This setup will route all audio back into Maschine. ![]() the whole process should take you less than a minute. This is a basic Maschine - Live 9 Bidule setup. It is now ready to be used whenever you need a standalone version. To see the GUI of your instrument double click on the Velvet module and hey presto you have a standalone version of Velvet. Then click on the Left output node of Velvet and drag to the Left input node of the Default Audio Output, repeat this for the Right output. Click with you mouse on the output node of the Default MIDI Input and drag it to the white input node on Velvet. Nodes on the top indicate inputs and on the bottom outputs. You do this by clicking on the nodes on the corner of each module. Next you want to connect the MIDI in to the instrument and the audio outputs from Velvet to the audio outputs of your device. As I want a simple stereo instrument I select 1 in 2 outs. ![]() So click anywhere on the workspace area and then navigate to VST Instruments/AirMusicTech/Velvet. For the MIDI input navigate to Replace/MIDI Devices/Input and for the audio navigate to Replace/Audio Devices/Output. If you want to change these you can simply right click on them and navigate to the module to change the settings. To simplify the path you can delete things that are not needed for the instrument, so go ahead and highlight the README and the mixer so they show yellow then hit the delete key. This will leave you with a Default MIDI input and a Default Audio Output. You may want to read it, but there are a couple of things on the workspace that we can remove so that we have a simple path. Open up Plogue Bidule and you will see the workspace shown above, you will also see a README. ![]() All the images can be enlarged by clicking on them. In this tutorial we are going to create a standalone version of AIR Velvet electric piano. However, all is not lost for those wanting to use instruments without the need to fire up a DAW, this FREE tutorial will show you how to use the powerful Plogue Bidule application to create your own standalone versions of VST and AU instruments. Soon the new AIR Instrument Pack will be updated to include AAX, VST and AU versions, at this time there is no standalone option.
